Interesting question wouldn’t you say? It’s also an eternal question. Unfortunately, many people have yet to consider their answer in light of the information given in the Bible. Some have listened to the opinions of others. Some have read philosophers. Some claim to have had visions or even dreams. Some have listened to preachers. But very few have actually considered what the Bible has to say about the subject of life after death.
Here are a few facts we find in the pages of God’s word…
Fact # 1. Everyone will live forever.
Matthew 25:46 And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.
It’s true. The Bible tells us that some will choose to spend eternity in heaven with God and some will choose to spend eternity in hell separated from God, but everyone will live forever.
Fact # 2. It’s your choice where you spend eternity.
Joshua 24:15 …Choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.
It really is up to you. God will not force you to decide.
Fact # 3. You don’t have as much time to decide as you think you do.
James 4:14 Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.
Fact # 4. Now is the time to decide.
2 Corinthians 6:2 …Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.
When you are confronted with the truth of the Bible, you must decide. If you choose not to listen and obey, you have made a decision. You have said no to God.
Fact # 5. You must ask God to forgive and save you from your sin.
Romans 10:9-11 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.
It’s really that simple. If you will confess to God that you are a sinner, and believe that Jesus died for you and rose again, you will be saved and forgiven from your sin.
However, you need to understand what it means to confess Jesus as Lord. It means to allow Him complete control of your life. Total surrender. Turning away from your old life. Living life His way, not yours. Also, the word believe means to make a commitment. It means to follow and obey Jesus.
Are you ready to confess and believe? If so, pray right now… Lord Jesus, I know I am a sinner. I believe you died for me and rose again. Please forgive me and save me. I yield to you, take control of my life. All that I am or will ever be, all that I have or will ever have, is completely yours. Jesus, I choose to follow you. Amen.
