Lighten Up A Little

Dear Prayer Partners,
We have had a LOT of very serious issues to pray for lately.  I don’t know about you, but my heart has been very burdened and overwhelmed.  Just a few minutes ago Joyce Newby sent me an email that reminded me of something. As I thought about her email  several Bible verses came to mind that really helped.
Ecclesiastes 3:4, “A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;”
Proverbs 17:22, “A merry heart does good, like medicine, but a broken spirit dries the bones.”
Hebrews 7:25, “Therefore Jesus is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them.”
Amid all that is wrong in our world, in light of all those who are hurting and while you’re thinking about all those who are lost without Jesus… don’t forget to take time to laugh and relax a little.
Yes, I realize there are a lot of devastating things going on with so many families.  I know people are hurting.  And if you look around it’s easy to see many things that will absolutely break your heart.  But, while you’re looking around, don’t forget to look for the humorous things in life.  Things obscured by the immediate needs of the moment.
I don’t know where Joyce came up with this, but please take time to read the following…

1. The dumbest thing I ever bought was a 2020 planner.
2. I was so bored I called Jake from State Farm just to talk to someone. He asked me what I was wearing.
3. 2019 — Stay away from negative people. 2020 — Stay away from positive people.
4. The world has turned upside down. Old folks are sneaking out of the house & their kids are yelling at them to stay indoors!
5. This morning I saw a neighbor talking to her dog. It was obvious she thought her dog understood her. I came into my house & told my cat. We laughed a lot.
6. Every few days try your jeans on just to make sure they fit. Pajamas will have you believe all is well in the kingdom.
7. Does anyone know if we can take showers yet or should we just keep washing our hands?
8. This virus has done what no woman has been able to do. Cancel sports, shut down all bars & keep men at home!
9. I never thought the comment, “I wouldn’t touch him/her with a 6-foot pole” would become a national policy, but here we are!
10. I need to practice social-distancing from the refrigerator.
11. I hope the weather is good tomorrow for my trip to the Backyard. I’m getting tired of the Living Room.
12. Appropriate analogy… “The curve is flattening so we can start lifting restrictions now” is like saying “The parachute has slowed our rate of descent, so we can take it off now.”
13. Never in a million years could I have imagined I would go up to a bank teller wearing a mask & ask for money.

I hope this made you laugh!

UPDATE

Dear Prayer Partners,
For some time now we’ve been praying for Aspen, the 16yr old girl with cancer. I just got an update and found out that she has been in the hospital for the past three weeks. She contracted Covid19 and got through that pretty well, but now has something else wrong with her lungs. They don’t think it’s Covid19 related, but are hesitant to do much testing because of all the steroids she is taking for the cancer. She is having a very difficult time breathing. Please pray for wisdom and discernment for the doctors and healing and relief for Aspen.
Aspen has been dealing with this for a long time and been through so much. Please pray for her entire family.
God bless and thank you in advance for your concern and prayers.

UPDATE

Dear Prayer Partners,
I just talked with Don Lee and he seems to be doing much better. The surgery helped get rid of a lot of the infection, but there is still a lot of tissue infected. He is on IV antibiotics and will be for some time. He is still having a lot of pain from the surgery incisions and drain tubes. Also a few problems with the colostomy. The good news is that in a few days he will be transferred to a skilled nursing facility for rehab. He requested that we pray for relief from pain and speedy recovery from the infection. He also wanted to say “thank you” for all your prayers and concern.
God Bless

PRAYER REQUEST

Dear Prayer Partners,

Some friends and fellow church members asked me to add this to our prayer list.  Their daughter lives in Illinois and sent it to them…

Everyone please pray. We need a miracle. We have neglected to post anything up until now because we don’t post this in search of pity or charity… we just desperately need your prayers.

Michalea, my wife, has been diagnosed with a serious form of breast cancer. She is 30 years old and we have a beautiful 3 year old little girl and would like to have more. We go to different doctors every single day to get worse news each day. She has a very large invasive triple negative carcinoma tumor and it has already started to spread. We already know chemo therapy and extensive surgeries must take place. We are still waiting on further testing to confirm other bad news they have predicted based off of markers. It’s too much to bear. We don’t mean to ruin anyone’s Christmas but we are desperate. She won’t like that I posted this but I am begging anyone that will, to hit your knees for my wife and pray like it’s your wife or sister. Please share this everywhere. We already have people praying all around the world and someone is putting her name in the Wailing Wall in Jerusalem as we speak but we need you. That is where we are at on how serious this is.

Also please keep my mother, LaVonda Nichols in your prayers as she is unbelievably battling breast cancer at this exact same time. Thankfully she has a much better prognosis at this time but she is still dealing with all the pain of chemo and the awful things that come with it and will be having surgery as well.

Thank you for your prayers and help in spreading the word. God Bless you all. We believe God has the last word.  Ryan Nichols

UPDATE

Dear Prayer Partners,
After 74 days in the hospital Hannah got to come home on Christmas Eve! She has a lot of home health items to deal with… PICC line, TPN, feeding tube, and a host of meds and therapies to control the disease process and pain. She still has a long way to go – and they are still waiting on pathology test results.
At this point, just getting out of the hospital was a huge relief and boost of encouragement for the entire family.
Hannah’s family expressed their appreciation for each of you who have prayed for them and sent a BIG “thank you!”
God Bless

!!HAVE A BLESSED CHRISTMAS!!

Dear Prayer Partners,
Cheryl & I are praying that you will have a blessed Christmas Celebration, regardless of circumstances.
Please be reminded that Christmas is a celebration of the love of God bestowed on sinful humans. Christmas is to remind us that God loved us so much that He put on the flesh of a man and lived among us. Christmas is how God demonstrated and proved to us that He loves us no matter what… Romans 5:8, “For God commended His love toward us in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” I know it sounds cliché but it is so very true — If you can’t see the cross from the cradle, you have missed the meaning of Christmas.
While many of us may not get to enjoy the “traditions” of the Christmas season this year, we can still celebrate the Christ of Christmas and rejoice! We may not be able to visit with loved ones as in the past, but that doesn’t change the fact that Jesus loves us.
I know many of you are dealing with health issues, loss of loved ones, restrictions due to virus, finances, jobs, etc.. I hope you are encouraged by Jesus words to YOU… John 16:33, “I have spoken these things to you so that you might have peace in Me. In the world you shall have tribulation, but be of good cheer. I have overcome the world.”
Have a Very Blessed Christmas Celebration!

PRAYER REQUEST

Dear Prayer Partners,
I just received this from Keri Peterson…
HI Ron!
Pray for our family. Ivan and Kegan have tested positive for covid. I tested negative Friday but am showing more symptoms this weekend so I’m going to retest tomorrow. Kegan only had issues on Thursday afternoon/evening and was back to normal Friday morning when we actually were able to get him tested. Ivan started getting dizzy late Thursday night and Friday started body aches as if he had been working out hard with fatigue. I have had a cough, headache and fatigue. So far Izaiah and Railyn have not shown symptoms.
Thanks for the prayers.
Keri

PRAYER REQUEST

Dear Prayer Partners,
I just received a request from one of our Prayer Partners, Cindy Martin. Her son, Steve and his wife Sara have contracted Covid19. It’s early stages and so far no serious symptoms. Steve and Sara have two boys, 4 & 6 yrs old and neither of them have it. Please pray the boys don’t get it and a speedy recovery for Steve & Sara.
